Abstract

Subarachnoid hemorrhage is the bleed into subarachnoid space. Cranioencephalic traumas and the rupture of cerebral aneurysms are the most frequent causes of subarachnoid hemorrhages. The most common symptom is the thunderclap headache, isolated or associated with focal symptoms. Recommended treatments are early surgical closure of ruptured cerebral aneurysm and endovascular therapy to prevent rebleeding. The treatment of vasospasms, seizures, delayed cerebral ischemia and medical complications is required (hyponatremia associated, fever, etc.). Arteriovenous malformations are abnormal conglomerations of dilated arteries and veins (nidus) within brain parenchyma resulting in abnormal arteriovenous shunting. Focused symptoms (seizures or progressive neurological deficits), consequence of brain hemorrhage are the most common. Available treatments are surgery, endovascular treatment or radiosurgery.
