Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of Hemodialysis combined with L-carnitine in the treatment of uremic peripheral neuropathy. Methods From September 2013 to September 2015, 126 cases diagnosed as peripheral neuropathy of uremia in our hospital were randomly divided into three groups, 42 cases in each group, and with conventional hemodialysis, hemodiafiltration treatment, L-carnitine combined with hemodialysis treatment respectively. Before and after treatment serum phosphate levels for 6 months, the clinical symptoms of peripheral neuropathy and median nerve, tibial nerve, sensory nerve conduction velocity (SCV) were compared between the groups. Results After 6 months of hemodiafiltration treatment, L-carnitine combined with hemodialysis treatment groups limb pain, sensory disorders symptoms, numbness and restless legs syndrome compared with conventional hemodialysis therapy improved significantly(P 0.05), phosphorus L-carnitine combined with hemodialy sis group levels were significantly decreased(P 0.05). Conclusions The peripheral neuropathy in patients with uremia using hemodialysis or hemodiafiltration simultaneous and joint use of L-carnitine therapy can significantly improve sensory peripheral sensory nerve conduction, promote improvement of symptoms, adjust the level of phosphorus.
