Abstract

ABSTRACT Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is one of the differential diagnoses of persistent or intractable headache. However, it is difficult to diagnose this condition in patients who present with atypical manifestations and without any underlying risk factors. A case is presented here wherein CVST masqueraded as migrainous hemicranial headache in a young patient with type 2 diabetes. Persistence of the headache despite treatment prompted MR imaging. This case also reiterates the importance of MRI in early diagnosis and treatment of CVST, which otherwise can lead to serious neurological complications.
