Abstract

The purpose of this article was to review training experiments where the strategy(ies) trained had a significant effect on poor readers' comprehension of text. Studies included in this review also had to meet these additional criteria: the training was administered by a classroom teacher, in a classroom setting, using typical classroom texts. The training procedures that enhanced poor readers' comprehension of text are described and instructional implications are discussed.
