Abstract

A learning needs assessment survey was conducted by the Green Valley Institute in the Quinebaug Shetucket National Heritage Corridor in Connecticut and Massachusetts. This survey was designed to assess educational interests, perceived knowledge, and importance relating to land use, community planning and design, and natural resources. Findings show that respondents are interested in learning more about these topics and that there is a link between this interest and prior knowledge. The more people know about the impacts of growth and the problems that occur when we do not protect our natural resources systems, the more they will be able to manage these development pressures.
