Abstract

Abstract Helix-sense-selective polymerization (HSSP) of substituted acetylenes by using an isolated chiral Rh initiator with an amino acid ligand has been achieved. The sense of the helix of the main chain of the resulting polymer was controlled by the sign of the chirality of the ligand. The isolated initiator needed less of the chiral ligand and gave polymers having a higher [θ] value than the two component chiral initiator systems we reported previously. The resulting polymers had a higher Mw.
