Abstract

Despite the fact that aortic diameter remains the main parameter for considering elective abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair,1 many studies have recently aimed at identifying other parameters that could better predict the risk of rupture along with aortic diameter. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is one of the most promising fields of research in predicting AAA growth and rupture. CFD is a complex mathematical and computational analysis based on the finite element method, used to solve a problem by subdividing a large system into smaller, simpler parts, called finite elements.
