Abstract

The development of photothermal agents with high photothermal conversion efficiency and good biocompatibility is important for the potential clinical application of photothermal therapy. There are few reports on the application of photothermal agents with the helical structure in photothermal therapy. Herein, helical bowl-like nanostructure assembled by SnS2 nanosheets was firstly synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method without any hard templates. L-cysteine, serving as a reactant and structure-directing agent, plays a key role in the construction of the helical bowl-like structure. Compared with other assembly structures obtained by regulation, helical bowl-like SnS2 exhibited strong near-infrared (NIR) absorption, good photostability, and significant photothermal conversion efficiency up to 57.8%. Both in vitro and in vivo experiment results of helical bowl-like SnS2 reveal its excellent photothermal performance and good biocompatibility. Helical bowl-like SnS2 effectively inhibit and kill cancer cells as a highly effective NIR photothermal agent. The enhanced helical structure-induced photothermal conversion performances provide new ideas for the design of photothermal therapy agents and clinical antitumor treatment.
