Abstract

The article delivers an overview of Hegel's system. First Hegel's logic is analysed. The reflections concentrate on the question, how to find the starting point in doing philosophy. It begins with pure being. But being becomes only intelligible by abstracting from the abstractation in order to develop more and more concrete terms. The triadic structure of the logic undergoes this process until a concrete synthesis is reached. The author investigates Hegel's understanding of the Subjective Spirit, then of the Objective Spirit and finally of the Absolute Spirit. To the Absolute Spirit belongs "Art", "Revealed religion" and "Philosophy". Finally the author discusses Hegel's identification of the highest phase of Absolute Spirit with philosophy, and how religion is related to that notion.
