Abstract

Results from the ALICE experiment on heavy-flavour production in pp collisions at s=2.76 and 7 TeV and in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN=2.76TeV are presented. In pp collisions, the transverse momentum differential cross sections are measured for open charmed mesons and electrons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at mid rapidity, and for muons from heavy-flavour hadron decays at forward rapidity. They are compared to perturbative Quantum ChromoDynamic calculations. In Pb-Pb collisions, the corresponding nuclear modification factors are extracted and compared to each other and to model predictions.
