Abstract
The article deals with experimental research and the numerical simulation of pulse heating of high-current electrical contacts using short-circuit currents in a wide temperature range up to the melting point. The electrode welding is found to start at temperatures that are much lower than the melting point of the material. The peculiarities of the softening and melting processes of the contact area are described.
