Abstract

We examined the potential of thermal evaporation for the controlled production of aerosols for the administration of drugs to the lungs. A novel volumetric heater was designed and fabricated allowing better control of the heating power transferred to the solvent compared to conventional coil heaters that are commonly used in e-cigarettes. The whole silicon chip is used as a resistive heater. Therefore, we call this approach a volumetric heater. We demonstrate that the vapor production of the volumetric heater can be controlled over a wide dynamic range by varying the heater temperature. [2020-0105]
