Abstract

A theoretical approach based upon the use of Newtonian eddy viscosity correlations has been applied to the calculation of heat transfer coefficients for non-Newtonian and drag-reducing liquids in fully-developed turbulent pipe flow. Previously published data of Gupta [19] and Friend [21], over a Reynolds number range of 6 × 10 3 –1.5 × 10 5, have been compared with the predicted values and good agreement has been obtained.
