Abstract

A series of boiling heat-transfer experiments is performed on saturated water films flowing on an inner tube of a vertically arranged annulus at atmospheric pressure. Data on heat-transfer coefficient and liquid droplet rate entrained by boiling are presented in a range of heat fluxes up to film breakdown. Taking into account characteristics of the droplet rate, variation of liquid film flow rate along the heating surface and film breakdown conditions are discussed.
