Abstract

A heat transfer correlation involving dimensionless groups is developed and the role of surface tension a ̀ viscosity and other process variables like mass flow rate, rotor speed and number of blades, etc. on scraped film heat transfer coefficients is delineated. Also the application of the penetration theory model is examined. The scraped film heat transfer coefficients calculated from the penetration theory model are far higher than experimental values. A correction factor based on film Reynolds number greatly improved the applicability of this model.
