Abstract
AbstractThe paper is concerned with the experimental determination of the forced convective heat transfer from heated cylinders when the approaching flow has low frequency oscillations in the magnitude of the free stream velocity. Initial tests showed that at very low reduced frequency values, based on the cylinder diameter and the mean flow speed, up to values of .01, a reduction in the Nusselt Number value of up to 12% below the Nusselt Number for uniform approaching turbulent flow was recorded. For reduced frequency values above .03, an increase in the Nusselt Number to the original value when the flow was steady was measured.
