Abstract

It is shown that the normalized temperature distribution for slug flow in all regular polygonal channels with uniform heat flux at the walls is identical with that for slug flow in all triangular channels with any combination of uniform heat fluxes on the three walls. Therefore, the known solution for a circular or for a square channel can be used to determine the temperature distributions for all the other cases. Slug flow Nusselt numbers and maximum wall temperatures are presented for triangular channels with uniform wall heat flux, and an equation is given for the Nusselt number for polygonal channels.
