Abstract

This paper numerically studied the heat transfer performance of water flowing in a rectangular channel with pillar structures. We systematically investigated the influence of the pitch, inclination angle, shape, and pillar arrangement on the flow and heat transfer characteristics. The results show that adopting spacing with S/d=2 can improve heat transfer performance sufficiently for a low Reynolds number case. Meanwhile, the noticeable enhancement can also be observed by making the pillar inclination direction consistent with the flow direction or staggered rhombic-shaped.
