Abstract

The heat transfer by laminar flow of elastico-viscous liquids has been studied by using the constitutive equations of motion for elastico-viscous liquids and energy equation. The plane Poiseuille flow has been examined in detail and is found to be characterized by two parameters Rc and S. The presence of the elastic elements in the viscous liquids is found to decrease the velocity and temperature at any point if the walls are at constant temperature, but the elastic elements increase the temperature at any point if the walls are having linearly varying temperature.
