Abstract

ABSTRACT In the process of high casting speed, the study of funnel mould (FM) cooling process is particularly important. Based on the copper plate temperature measured by thermocouple, a mathematical model of the inverse heat transfer problem of the thin slab/copper plate was developed to calculate the boundary heat flux, then a positive mathematical model of thin slab/copper plate/cooling water coupled heat transfer has been developed, and the influence of the cooling water flows from top to bottom in the water channels on the heat transfer behaviour of the FM copper plate was analysed. The results show that when the cooling water flows from top to bottom in the water channels was adopted, the peak temperature of the copper plate hot face decreased 117°C, the maximum temperature of the cooling water decreased 24°C. Cooling water velocity and temperature have little influence on heat transfer of copper plate.
