Abstract

Combining the processes of mechanical wet milling of a ternary mixture (quartz sand, scrap of the MKS-83 refractories, and monoclinic zirconium dioxide) and topochemical interaction between its particles and the ions of dissociated sodium silicate facilitates the formation of a gelatinous coating at the surface of the particles and, thereby, imparts adhesiveness (bonding capacity) to the suspensions and ensures thermal volume constancy of the castings.
