Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to generalize the results of theoretical studies of the basic forms of liquid combustion with a free surface under conditions of natural and forced convection, to reduce the results obtained to engineering expressions in the form of criterial functions, and to then compare these expressions to experimental data available in the literature. Cases for the combustion of hydrocarbon fuels were considered. Flame-liquid thermal interactions and real and model convective flame structures were investigated for laminar grazing and turbulent flat flame regimes.
