Abstract

The specific heats of Fe 72Ni 18Zr 10, Co 72.9Cr 17.1Zr 10, Ni 78Si 10B 12 and Pd 80Si 20 amorphous alloys were measured in the temperature range 77–800 K. The magnetic anomaly of the heat capacity at the ferromagnetic Curie temperature T C was observed for FeNiZr alloy, but not for CoCrZr. The results are discussed in connection with the pressure dependence of T C and magnetic thermal expansion anomaly. Several exothermic and endothermic processes were observed corresponding to the transformation sequence for complete crystallization of NiSiB and PdSi alloys. The structural relaxation process appears with a decrease in heat capacity. A discontinuous increase in the specific heat is observed at the glass transition temperature.
