Abstract

Heat capacities and densities of liquid n-octane, n-nonane, n-decane, and n-hexadecane have been measured at temperatures from 318.15 K to 373.15 K and at pressures up to 10 MPa using a d.s.c. and a vibrating-tube densimeter, respectively. Both molar heat capacities Cp,m and molar volumes Vm (derived from densities) have been fitted simultaneously as double power series satisfying the relation: ( ∂ C p , m / ∂ p ) T = − T ( ∂ 2 V m / ∂ T 2 ) p . The results have also been compared with experimental literature values.
