Abstract

This text, as the name implies, covers heat and mass transfer calculations in the context of biological and agricultural applications. It assumes an ability of the student to properly apply and solve differential (and some partial differential) equations and assumes at least an introduction to the thermodynamics of biological systems. Its primary audience is assumed to be junior-year students in biological engineering and/or agricultural and food engineering programs. It is also appropriate for students with a background in bioprocessing, biomedical engineering, waste and environmental engineering, and the like in preparation for senior-level design project work.
