Abstract

1. As a result of the studies carried out, a scientific basis has been provided for the possibility of preventing an endogenous fire by delivering a high-pressure stream of water into an actively weathering zone in a working space in an operating removal-block, applied to the conditions of hydraulic mines. 2. Air temperature distribution was obtained along the length of the working space while operating a hydraulic giant in a cleanout stope. Also found was the dependence of critical drying time for coal loss upon piece size and its initial humidity, which permits the selection of optimal regimes for the preventive treatment of the working space. 3. The study results were the scientific basis for selecting parameters for technological schemes for preventing endogenous fires by using highpressure streams of water: these schemes were introduced into hydraulic mines in the Kuznetsk basin.
