Abstract

Patients with diabetes have ahigh cardiovascular risk, which can be efficiently addressed by the administration of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (GLP-1-RA). Nevertheless, the use of GLP-1-RA has so far been limited in cardiology. This review describes the existing evidence for cardiovascular benefits of GLP-1-RA and presents the available substances with recommendations on administration and titration and taking the side effects into consideration.
