Abstract

Introduction: Although hearing improvement after surgery for small tumors of the cerebellopontine angle has been previously reported, the mechanism by which surgery leads to an improvement in hearing remains obscure. We report on a patient who was found to have a large (5 cm) cerebellopontine angle tumor originating from rootlets of cranial nerve X at the jugular foramen who experienced significant hearing improvement after surgery.
