Abstract

Holism is defined as equal emphasis in diagnosis and treatment given to physical transformation, maturing psychology and healthy spirituality, where the latter concerns the quality of our relationships with other people, the environment, and God or 'the god of your understanding'. Concrete and fluid thought patterns are described in relation to dualism, holism and the trinity-unity model of man. Two ways in which a concrete Eastern metaphysics may distort the meanings of 'holistic' and 'spirituality' are discussed.
