Abstract
Despite a couple highly publicized setbacks this past year, the field of gene therapy continues to grow and thrive. The publication you are holding bears weighty testament to the field's health. The Abstracts of the Third Annual Meeting of the American Society of Gene Therapy (ASGT) cover the gamut of current molecular medicine from the most basic science to the most cutting edge clinical intervention, and they attest to the progress being made on all fronts. Although there are many obstacles to overcome, we can afford to be reasonably optimistic about the future of genetic medicine.
