Abstract

A new report from the U.S. Departments of Labor (DOL), Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Treasury finds that health plans and insurance companies are out of compliance with the federal parity law. The 2022 report on the 2008 Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA), issued to Congress last week, suggests health plans and health insurance issuers are failing to provide the proper mental health (MH) and substance use disorder (SUD) benefits to those under coverage.
