Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to examine the relationships between the variables of health literacy, healthy aging, and life satisfaction in individuals aged 65 and older and determine the mediating role of healthy aging in the relationship between health literacy and life satisfaction. Individuals aged 65 and older living in Burdur province of Turkey constituted the study population and a questionnaire was applied to 1371 older people in the study. According to the analysis results, it was determined that olders’ perceptions of life satisfaction and healthy aging increased as their perceptions of health literacy increased, and their life satisfaction increased as their perceptions of healthy aging increased. In addition to, it was found that the mediating role of healthy aging in the relationship between health literacy and life satisfaction was statistically significant and positive.
