Abstract

Reviews the literature to identify the gaps and find a clear definition and context in which the term Health Information Seeking Behaviour (HISB) is used. A retrospective search of the literature was conducted using the CD-ROM databases such as LISA, Sociological Abstracts, Psychological Abstracts, Pubmed and Google Scholar. Relevant articles were selected for review. From the review, it is clear that most studies are from Western countries and conducted on disease-oriented groups. Though, some are from specific user groups, but very few studies are on general public’s health information seeking.
