Abstract

Summary The aim of this study was to examine women's reported health condition, applying a holistic perspective, during cardiac rehabilitation phase 3 after their first myocardial infarction. A sample of 200 consecutively chosen women who had suffered their first myocardial infarction were asked to complete a self-rated questionnaire reflecting their health condition at the time of the myocardial infarction and one year later. The results were analysed by descriptive and inferential statistics. At the time of the myocardial infarction, women were found to be under stress with regard to their emotional, working and behavioural condition.
