Abstract
In Editor.— Dr Schaefer makes several serious charges to which I must respond. First, he objects that the Report of the COUNCIL ON SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS cites references from Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the Electric Power Research Institute, and he suggests that they are all hopelessly biased. The Council would suggest that these sources provide the best data on the subject in question and cannot agree that the first two organizations are biased or accept the conclusion that they are calculating to serve the nuclear industry. He suggests that the health of nuclear workers has not been addressed, and reference is given to a talk given before the Health Physics Society in 1976.
