AbstractProperty, Real Estate & Development (MIC: 8.3 SIC: 798 NAIC: 25930)Health Care Property Investors is a real estate investment trust that, together with its consolidated subsidiaries and joint ventures, invests in healthcare‐related facilities throughout the U.S. Co. develops, acquires and manages health care real estate, and provide mortgage financing to health care providers. Co. invests directly by structuring sale‐leaseback transactions, and through joint ventures. As of Dec 31 2004 Co.'s portfolio, consisting of interests in 527 properties in 43 states, included: 29 hospitals; 171 skilled nursing facilities; 119 assisted living and continuing care retirement communities; 184 medical office buildings; and, 24 other health care facilities.
