Abstract

A growing research literature describes how funding, legislation, and regulatory policies affect the provision of palliative care. A better fit is needed between health care policy and the illness experiences of patients and caregivers. One obvious fit is that between health care system innovation and the changing demographics and spectrum of illness in the population.
