Abstract

Tracing the relationship between economic development and health had all along been an area of inquisitiveness. The present review tries to focus on that objective through a historical transcendence of economic development to bring forth the intimate relationship of health in it. Also discussed is the role of international agencies that strived hard to better the health parameters in line with the economic progress. In this connection, the role played by anthropologist in framing appropriate strategies, that fits the local population is examined. Finally, the state of urban health with increased incidence of urbanization is also evaluated.
