Abstract

ABSTRACT This essay explores environmental care from a Borderlands perspective. Using the August 3, 2019 shooting in El Paso, TX as a focal point, I argue that recent eco-fascist violence is deeply connected to environmental nativism, coloniality, and white supremacy. In centering an ethic of care informed by Borderlands theory, I highlight how interconnectivity, ambiguity, and compassion are vital for confronting historic patterns of violence.
