Abstract

1. 1. Head and body temperatures were measured on captive Varanus gouldii unrestrained in a cage, and on a continuous basis during heating with solar radiation while restrained. 2. 2. Head-body temperature differences of up to 2·3°C were found in V. gouldii when unrestrained and up to 3·7°C during gular pumping in restrained animals during heating.
