Abstract

In otorhinolaryngoloy, congenital cyst or fistulas are rare. If localized in the medial neck region most are related to the thyreoglossal duct remnants, whereas if situated in the lateral neck region they are related to complex developmental anomalies of the branchial arches, the lymphatic apparatus or arterio-venous system. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of CEUS fistulography as alternative bedside method in evaluation of these lesions. A significant proportion of these anomalies become already symptomatic in the pediatric population. Children and adolescents are a exquisitely radiosensitive and alternative imaging modalities besides of conventional fluoroscopic fistulography or computed tomography are needed.
