Тhe semantic possibilities of the adjective and its sign nature in the german sublanguage “Infectology”

Abstract

The relevance of scientific research lies in the need to study the symbolic nature and semantic capabilities of the name of the adjective in the German sub-language “Infectology”, to consider adjective lexical units that reflect the specifics of the conceptual sphere of medicine from the position of their semantic potential in the studied language society. The following research methods were used in the scientific work: the general scientific method of analyzing terminological units, the descriptive, component method, the method of interconnecting the content and form of special language units with their cognitive value. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that a terminological thesaurus is defined, which includes the adjective of the German language for special purposes and the function of lexical units. Findings. The semantic possibilities of the name of the adjective and its symbolic essence are reflected in the German term system “Infectology”, which expanded its boundaries, acquiring stability and consistency, positive and connotative meaning, using typical terminization techniques, especially as a result of the semantic rethinking of the commonly used word, the use of the Latin term as neutral
