Abstract
Background and Aims: Low HDL-Cholesterol (HDL-C) levels are associated with increased risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). However, many studies have indicated that a residual ASCVD risk exists even at high plasma HDL-C levels suggesting that other factors may affect the reverse association between HDL-C levels, including the HDL subfraction profile and HDL functionality and the existence of other ASCVD risk factors. We evaluated the plasma HDL subfraction profile in hypertensivepatients comparedtonormotensive subjects with high HDL-C levels.
