Abstract
Rare health and medical conditions, because of their very rarity, are often overlooked, unrecognised and therefore neither treated nor managed appropriately by doctors, nurses or healthcare assistants (HCAs). Nurses and HCAs have a pivotal role in supporting those who have rare health conditions and this new series of articles seeks to provide brief but useful information regarding a range of rare health and medical conditions that some nurses and HCAs may encounter in their professional lives.
