Abstract

ObjectiveReview the consequences of non-nutritive sucking habits, oral breathing and atypical deglutition on the occlusion. TopicsBreastfeeding duration has directly been related with the appearance of non-nutritive sucking habits. On the digital sucking as well as on the atypical deglutition there is a certain age when the habit turns pathologic. This will have poor consequences on the stomatognathic system. Oral breathing and its consequences must be handled by a multidisciplinary team of professionals in order to achieve success. Developed workThe bibliographic research was made on a series of data bases, like Medline database, B-on, Scielo, Scopus and Cochrane Library.
