Abstract

Stroke is a terrible disease conditioning in an important manner the lives of patients. Recovery is, often, very laborious. The cases of six well-known artists who suffered it are presented and also theirs efforts to defeat it. Patobiographic data of the painters CF Friedrich, L. Krasner and C. Close, poet and artist G. Apollinaire, the films director and cartoonist F. Fellini and actor K. Douglas are discussed. The vital changes introduced by a such process, the strength to recover and the poststroke artwork production are commented. The artist premorbid personality influenced notably the recovery. These artists faced to the disease and with their masterpieces also bequeathed to the posterity theirs examples of courage.
