AbstractAbstractMembers of the Society would read in the Press recently of Sir James Roberts's munificent gift to the Society of the Old Parsonage at Haworth.It had long been the ambition of the Society to secure the original home of the Brontës, that it might be preserved to posterity as a literary shrine and as a Museum and Library. As was announced at the Annual Meeting, the Haworth Church Lands Trustees—the official owners of the property—were approached on the subject, and they agreed to sell the property for such a sum as would enable them to build a new residence for the incumbent of the parish.
