Abstract

Hawaii is one of only a few states without any form of legalized gambling. The purpose of this research paper is to measure the perceptions and attitudes of Native Hawaiians on the legislation of casino gaming in Hawaii, especially on Hawaiian Sovereign land. Knowing the history of Hawaii should be of some help in making an informed decision about calling for Hawaiian Sovereignty as a solution to the problems many Native Hawaiians face. This paper also provides useful information in making the decision of whether to legalize gaming in Hawaii.
