Abstract

The fall of Yanukovych’s regime in February 2014, the Russian annexation of Crimea in March 2014 and the emergence of the Donbass war by proxy in April 2014 changed the geopolitical balance of power in Eastern Europe and spread diffuse effects on all the countries of the region. Given that the frozen conflict of Transnistria is particular to the Moldovan context, this study will try to answer questions peculiar to this case: how were the annexation of Crimea and the separatist war in Donbass perceived and responded to by the Moldovan media? How did the Ukrainian crisis change Moldovan politics? Consequently, what is the likelihood that Moldovan commitment to the pro-European path will fade?
