Abstract

In an environment with a crowded field of nonprofits all angling for funding, often from the same sources, it might be hard to imagine turning down a grant or offer of some other form of support—be it an in‐kind donation or corporate volunteer project. But in some cases, the nature and circumstances surrounding a gift of cash, product or labor might actually make it harder for the organization to accomplish its mission.
